Code of conduct

Version 1.0, 21 Oct 2026; reviewed by Alim, locals-trust.

Every business in a locals-trust chapter agrees to this code when it applies. It applies to every job the business does in the town.

  1. Do only the work your license covers, where your trade is licensed, and pull the permits the job needs.
  2. Put the price and the scope of the work in writing before the work starts.
  3. Give customers your business name, license number, address and phone exactly as they are on record.
  4. Never buy, write or reward reviews of your own business, and never post reviews of a competitor.
  5. Answer a customer's complaint in writing, and try to put things right.
  6. Tell the chapter when your license, address or phone changes, so the facts we show stay true.

When a business breaks it

A business that breaks the code is asked to put it right. If it does not, it leaves the chapter. A business agrees to the version linked from the join page on the day it applies; a new version is dated and published here first.
